Job Summary

Perform preliminary screening examinations and/or tests to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment by the physician. Assist the physician with procedures and care of the patient. Collects subjective and objective ophthalmic data from the patient or caregiver and communicates this data to the provider. Must possess and maintain certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).

Department Details

This position is full time 40 hours a week working 8 hour day shifts. No weekends or holidays required.

Our general ophthalmology practice has 4 ophthalmologists and 3 optometrists. As an Ophthalmic assistant you will support providers with cataract evaluations, retinal injections, refraction, diagnostic testing, and more. Will be opportunity to work as a preceptor for future techs/assistants. We are a high volume and busy practice seeing close to 120 patients a day.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program or equivalent experience and hold certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Basic Life Support Certification required.

Must be a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology and maintain continued COA certification. Basic Life Support Certification required.
