Provide work direction to ensure that daily responsibilities of staff technologists are properly delegated. Performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images. Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercise professional judgement in the performance of procedures. Provides for patient care and initiates life support measure as necessary. Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers. Possesses the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans as well as the ability to perform related procedures and protocols. Has the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees. Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care. On a continuum, the CT technologist works to develop an understanding of the patients physical and emotional status. Works well with all age groups.
Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Collect and maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed, patient medical histories, views taken, or technical factors used. Conducts preparatory work during the scanning process, such as patient positioning and instructing. Consults on latest accreditation and performance standards. Demonstrates expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards. Demonstrates open, friendly, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members. Documents defective equipment and reports it to an appropriate supervisor. Documents plans with clear objectives, action steps, accountabilities, resource requirements and timelines. Employs workflow standards to measure workflow performance. Maintain a current file of examination records. Prepares intravenous drugs and intravenous therapy administration equipment. Promotes and ensures patient satisfaction while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Promotes organizational learning through knowledge management, training and development, and sharing key experiences. Recognizes changing demands and priorities; validates changes with management. Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work. Seeks opportunities to embrace challenging tasks while maintaining a positive attitude. Evaluates the quality of CT services in an efficient and effective manner.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required (ARRT). Computerized Tomography (CT) certified required. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board of Examiners is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required. Completion of an educational program and clinical experience accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). One year experience as a staff CT technologist preferred. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program is required.
