JOB SUMMARY

Contributes in a knowledgeable way to the care and safety of psychiatric patients under the direction and control of the psychiatric staff and patient orders. Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed clinical staff. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The BHT will facilitate groups for inpatients in behavioral health. Group content may include leisure activities, relaxation, and open gym. Charge nurse and assigned nurse will identify which patients are appropriate for group activities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Every other Saturday and Sunday Evening shift. Employee will be educated as to Management of Aggressive Behaviors and unit orientation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Whether working in Minnesota or North Dakota, certification is highly preferred. If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care). If applicable to position, may require a valid class D driver's license and good driving record. Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
