Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient rooms and assigned areas for Sanford Health patients, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks that the individual will be responsible for include but not limited to; emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. Environmental Services Technician should have the knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; ability to apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients and facility staff. Individuals may be responsible for the following locations to clean but not limited to; patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rbestrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met. Environmental Services Technician is expected to wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines. Individuals will be expected to keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. Environmental Services Technicians will have access to pagers and other technology that they will be responsible to use appropriately when needed. Individuals will help out and assist in the laundry areas as appropriate. Depending upon location and availability of programs, may have access to use of OneChart. Physical activities include but not limited to will require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull up to lbs on flat surfaces or up and down ramps. This position will require the individual to be on their feet for the majority of their shift. Individuals may be exposed to certain levels of noise with the equipment in operation. Depending on location of position, work hours will vary depending on patient needs. This may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Provides first line of customer support. Completes current work according to assigned priorities. Provides appropriate degrees of attention to both personal and professional priorities. Describes where and how to locate safety information and protective equipment or facilities. Conducts basic cleaning and disinfection tasks within healthcare facilities to create a neat healthcare environment. Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. Promotes a team culture that balances individual initiative and team collaboration and sharing of successes. Identifies process problems that limit performance. Exhibits a personal standard of excellence marked by honesty and integrity.
This position is a Linen/Sterile position that works as a relief in the OR's. It covers different positions and has 2 different start times. 3:00PM-11:30PM and 5:00PM-1:30AM.
Minimum of 6 months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful. Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful. Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
