JOB SUMMARY

Designs, organizes and delivers massage therapy to improve clients' physical health by relieving stress, pain, muscle tension and other discomforts as well as increasing flexibility and mobility. Collects clients' clinical information and contraindications; designs appropriate massage programs considering health conditions. Assesses clients' tissue lesions and applies various massage methods to relieve discomfort and satisfy their specific needs/goals. Communicates with clients during massage therapy sessions about the pace, location and strength of exerted pressure on tissues and answers client queries. Organizes and maintains a clean, safe and professional environment for massage therapy. Educates clients on accurate daily body movements and exercises.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a licensed massage therapist in state(s) of practice. High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Must have successfully completed a course of study consisting of 500 or more classroom hours of supervised instruction from a recognized school with a curriculum that meets the basic guidelines under section 148D.20 for massage therapy or have qualified for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork by the portfolio review processes or the current equivalent. Massage Therapists with a medical background, i.e., R.N. is preferred.
