Job Summary

Entry level position for a candidate with limited or no laboratory research experience. Assists other research investigators by performing non-complex research and experimentation following established protocols. Performs routine lab and equipment maintenance, such as cleaning glassware, counter tops and equipment. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Sets up and operates various scientific apparatus. Assists with research projects as directed. Makes intellectual contributions to current research activities and contributes to the design of experiments and new techniques. Prepares and weighs samples for testing and analysis. Conducts tests, assays and other protocols under the direction of a senior researcher. Properly documents procedural actions as well as results. Analyzes and/or summarizes findings. Reviews and researches current literature as directed by senior research investigator(s) related to current research projects.

Lab description

The primary research in the lab will be translational research with clinical samples from children and adults. The clinical samples will range from respiratory samples, nasal swabs and blood samples. The lab evaluates the immune response during infection.

The experimental techniques are flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, single cell sequencing, cell sorting among others.

Job Description:

Laboratory manager. The task will include processing samples for experiments, adequate sample storage and sample inventory. May include development of new workflows and protocols. Ordering laboratory supplies.

In addition, data analysis and manuscript preparation with primary investigator.

Unique requirements:



Laboratory experience

Experience working with clinical samples

Experience with sample processing, including RNA extraction, and sample storage

Basic or advanced flow cytometry experience


Basic or advanced statistical knowledge


High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
