Job Summary

Plan, organize, develop, and manage the infection prevention and control (IPC) program for their respective region. This position delegates the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties to establish and maintain an effective Infection Prevention and Control program in their respective region. The manager will promote integration of IPC program components within their respective region in collaboration with evidence based standards established at the enterprise level. The manager will be responsible for surveillance activities, prevention strategies, and risk management activities related to IPC. Works directly and collaboratively with Sanford Infection Preventionists across the enterprise to achieve integrated IPC programming in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such functions for Sanford. In collaboration with leadership, will demonstrate the ability to plan, develop, implement and control the annual IPC budget.

An individual (or individuals), who is qualified through education, training, experience or certification in infection prevention and control, is appointed by the governing body as the infection preventionist(s)/infection control professional(s) responsible for the infection prevention and control program and that the appointment is based on the recommendations of medical staff leadership and nursing leadership.

Department Details

Manager of IP team is highly visible role, work is fast-paced and interesting. This role works closely with all levels, from rounding with frontline staff to presenting to Sioux Falls leadership team. Also, opportunity to work closely with IP teams across the Enterprise to influence practice and policies.

Qualifications

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.

Three years of nursing experience required. Must hold a current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse. If applicable, an additional RN licensure may by required, when applicable for practice environment.

Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multi-state licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
