JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

The student intern will work directly with South Dakota HOSA staff regarding list-serve creation, data-mining, and follow-up surveys. Employee will also be responsible for mining recent data concerning our future health professions members. In addition, the intern will help plan, coordinate, and market our annual State Leadership Conference.

• Create multiple email list serves for follow up on SD HOSA members.

• Mine through current data pertaining to student interests and health pathways.

• Participate in event planning for annual State Leadership Conference.

• Help organize college/career fair at annual State Leadership Conference.

• Engage in coordinating academic breakout sessions at the annual State Leadership Conference.

• Maintain and continuously improve our social media outreach.

• Construct binders/folders for competitive events at our annual State Leadership Conference.

• Research avenues of resources available for our HOSA members.

• Must have the ability to collaborate and work in a team setting.

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Must be familiar with utilizing social media outlets (ie: Twitter/Instagram)

• Must be a college student aiming to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in a pre-professional health program, English, or Mathematics.

• Must be able to commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship.

• Must have strong communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
