JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Demonstrates an ability to meet own responsibilities. Describes opportunities for taking initiative in the organization. Demonstrates the ability to respond to change. Demonstrates an expectation that there will be ongoing shifts in demands and priorities. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Sanford Health runs three medically based camps: Camp Bring It On, a camp for children with cancer; Camp Super kids, a camp for children with asthma; and Spirit Camp, a camp for children with spina bifida. The commonality for the above camps is everyone feels “normal” they are with children who are going through the same struggles.

In this internship students will gain a greater understanding of working with families that have children with medical conditions. The intern will work side by side with the camping coordinator, as well as, physicians, nurses, program directors, while at the camps.

Internship Responsibilities:

• Intern will be responsible for organizing items, gathering medical equipment, and medications specific for each camp.

• Intern will develop schedules with the help of the program director for each of Sanford Children’s Summer Camps: Camp Bring it on, Camp Super Kids, Spirit Camp. Each camp may require different duties in order to prepare for that camp.

• Intern will create spreadsheets containing camper information, payment records, etc.

• Intern will attend each of the camps that they were responsible for organizing. With the exception of Camp Super kids.

• Intern will observe and participate in the operational and business side of camping experience, as well as, within the Sanford Enterprise.

• Intern will assist director with staff training.

• Intern will assist with camp marketing.

Intern Qualifications:

• Ability to self-initiate and work independently, including effective time management

• Competence and sensitivity in working with people with physical disabilities and people of diverse races and culture is highly valuable.

• Responsible with access to camper confidential information, working with families to gather all camp application information.

• Some lifting is required, in preparation of camps

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
