Coordinates programs and services that affect the lives of children, childcare providers, parents, and/or adults. Coordinates the logistical implementation of assigned projects, and adheres to program actions and deliverables based on program grants when relevant. Responsible for organizing special events and handling projects as determined by institutional needs. Assists in writing copy for various publications and serving as a public relations and communications resource. Manages multiple concurrent projects and/or priorities. The Lead Community Programs Specialist establishes project plans that identify, communicate, and track tasks and deliverables to meet goals/objectives. Ensures program is in compliance with contract expectations to ensure program implementation success. Develops and maintains documentation pertinent to specific projects. Delegates tasks to project members. Evaluates key metrics related to project goals/objectives. Assesses existing office procedures and implements improvement as appropriate. Assists with on-boarding and orientation of new staff. Coordinates communication and related committee meetings with internal and external partners. Utilizes interdependence in the workplace and on work projects within the department. Demonstrates accountability to follow-through on departmental work assignments. Assesses and monitors potential or actual problems and implements resolutions needed for successful outcome. Tracks inventory and completes office supply ordering. Coordinates purchases of resources for department and special projects. Coordinates and facilitates travel arrangements for leadership, staff and invited speakers/guests. Establishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with internal and external contacts. Serves as resource and responds to customer needs in a timely fashion. Demonstrates ability to utilize multiple software applications. Consistently demonstrates ability to professionally assess a situation, consider alternative and/or seek assistance from appropriate personnel and choose appropriate course of action. Respects and maintains confidentiality. Work hours vary according to department and client needs. May be required to work evenings and/or weekends.


Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects. Champions best practices for aligning goals with organizational strategy. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes. Produces standard project status reports. Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties. Seeks out and facilitates organizational opportunities aimed at improving community relations. Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Models excellent behaviors for both team leadership and individual participation.


May require certification/licensure as required by profession. If not certified at the time of hire, the candidate must actively pursue and satisfactorily complete the required certification within the first year of employment. Valid Drivers License required. Must maintain good driving record. Bachelors Degree required. Experience in presentation/in group settings preferred.
